Steel Man Resumes. A whole program, run on this method.
Steel Man Resumes is a free career platform for people with records. I started it in 2017, and today it runs as a project of The Midnight Garden. It's my proof that The Root System works. Public tools, research, a resource map and a newsletter, run mostly by one person, with AI doing the heavy lifting and me approving what goes out.
Free for the people who need it.
The Refinery
Free tools for the steps after the resume: applications, interviews, and how to talk about your record. Live.
Open the Refinery ›The coverage map
State by state, what help exists and how far each state has been checked, published in the open with the method.
See Steel Man Resumes ›Troy's letter
A short letter twice a week on getting hired with a record, published on the site.
Read the letters ›The same five parts I set up for nonprofits.
One rule file that every AI working on Steel Man Resumes reads first, including the words we never use about people.
Every public claim is graded by how well it's backed. If it isn't backed, it doesn't get said.
The resource map and the employer list carry a source and a date on every line.
AI drafts the work. Nothing goes live until I read it and say yes.
A daily check on the sites and a weekly recheck of the resource map. Employer marks get rechecked every month. The routines report to me and never change anything on their own.
What it means for you
Your organization isn't a career platform. The problem is the same.
Too many facts for a small team, and real stakes for the people you serve. The structure that lets one person run Steel Man Resumes is the same one that lets your staff trust what AI hands them.
